To generalize conservatives as racists or even state that Joe Wilson, based simply on his outburst, is a racist is obscenely prejudicial. Being politically conservative or liberterian has nothing to do with race. And, it is pathetic that when people with actual disagreements about a legitimate issue are labeled something as hateful as "racist" simply because our President happens to be african american. I would prefer that Joe Wilson had kept his mouth shut in that forum but I do think it could have been over once his apology was accepted by President Obama. Based on polls, "a lot" of people that voted for our current President also happen to be against some of his policies.

Kenneth - "a lot" is vague.

OK, how's this? I think 92.7 percent of all teabaggers are racist, gun-wielding morans.

Kenneth - "a lot" is vague. Conservatives tried to say that "a lot" of people that protested against Bush hated America, but what did the Conservative know? All statements like this do is make the accuser feel better about themselves and their views beccause those that think differently are hateful/irrational

I do think a lot of the "teabaggers" vitriol toward Obama -- bringing guns and shouting down congresspeople at town halls -- is based on anger at Obama's being a black president. But not Wilson's outburst. He was thinking out loud (I've done it several times), and it happened at the worst possible moment.

Jimmy Carter was a smart man, a terrible President, and a great humanitarian but when he makes comments like this he sounds like an old fool.

I think that Mr. Hartpoolian, former head of the SC Dem Party, got it right:

"I don't think Joe's outburst was caused by President Obama being African-American. I think it was caused by no filter being between his brain and his mouth."
