Club 1808 is hosting a show this evening featuring local artists and bands from our sound-alike Massachusetts sister city. Boston. That's the city we're talking about. Taking a cue from the history and recent revival of psychedelia in town, Headdress brew their tunes a little slower, and like their drone. The duo have a new album out on No Quarter called Lunes.

Also up are the San Marcos band Silver Pines, who we've told you about previously. The woozy, folk-meets-shoegaze group make it up to Austin pretty regularly, and they've currently got their Forces LP out on Light Lodge records.

So, how about our guests? Royalty, folks, or at least nobility. That's right, both Prince Rama of Ayodhya and Lord Jeff will be playing 1808. Prince Rama of Ayodhya like feathers, weirdness, and vaguely Indian melodies. The oddball three-piece also include among their members "anyone else who is moved to sing, chant, dance, bang on a drum, or clap their hands." Odd stuff that hearkens back to the sixties experimentation of The Trees Community or Ya Ho Wa 13. Recommended.

On tour with the Prince is Lord Jeff, actually a trio who create songs with savage guitar shredding and noise experiments. They're signed to the Ecstatic Peace label and will be traveling around the country with Prince Rama until the end of September.
