The intriguing collective that is Soulsavers performs at Stubb’s tonight in support of their third full-length Broken. English duo Ian Glover and Rich Machin formed Soulsavers at the start of the century, releasing a numerous EPs and singles before garnering further fame with remixes of Starsailor’s “Good Souls” and “Poor Misguided Fools” and Doves’ “Satellites.” Rich, textured tracks boasting a slew of instruments, perfectly assembled by producers Glover and Machin, are the basic building blocks of Soulsavers’ soundscapes. Add a handful of notable vocalists and a brilliant lyricist or two to the mix and the already impressive songs, which run the gamut in terms of genre, take on new vitality.

Mark Lanegan, expected to join the band on stage this evening, has worked with Soulsavers for a number of years, appearing on the previous release It’s Not How Far You Fall, It’s The Way You Land as well as Broken. Although he sings solo on quite a few songs on both those records, he also teams up with legends like Will Oldham on the former and Gibby Haynes, Mike Patton, and Jason Pierce on the latter.

California’s Jonneine Zapata gets this multinational bill going tonight on Stubb’s cozy inside stage and will be followed by Australia’s Red Ghost (who assist on Broken as well). Check it all out on us -- enter your information in the form below for a chance to go to the show for free.

  • Gonna be great! Thanks for the chance to win, but I already got my tickets waiting.

I usually tend to drift away from DJs but I love the SOUL element/feel in these albums and the use of natural instruments recorded on vinyl MMMMmmmmmmmm.
