The Mohawk (912 Red River)
Free, 5:30 pm for panel, 8 pm music starts
[info]
Starting at 6:30 p.m. on Friday evening, Maura Johnston (Idolator), Justin Gage (Aquarium Drunkard), Peter Gaston (SPIN), David Prince (Billboard, Daily Swarm), Joe Gross (Austin American-Statesman) and Paige Maguire (Austinist, WOXY) will be discussing the ever-thinning line between new media and the mainstream. There will be a question period and cocktails after the panel.
Local Music Is Sexy begins promptly at 8 p.m., and this year's lineup is our best yet. Beautiful Supermachines, My Milky Way Arms, Air Traffic Controllers, Distant Seconds, the Low Lows, TV Torso, Black Before Red, Silent Land Time Machine, Manikin, The Authors, Watch Out for Rockets and International Waters will all perform, and there will be a special presentation by the Minor Mishap Marching Band. Austin Kleon will also be on hand, drawing our party from the upper deck.
As always, the event serves as an early-bird credential pick-up for folks covering the festival. Show up and get your wristbands Friday night to save yourself from long lines on Saturday morning at the park.
Stay tuned for more details coming soon, including RSVP details.

I'm totally confused. Is the panel open to the public? Is it free? Do you need to RSVP anywhere? Are there more details...?
