Little Gold, More at the Cole Street House

Don't want to stay in but not sure you want to go out? Split the difference tonight at the Cole Street House and see four talented bands from near and afar.

Fun house shows are something Austin knows all about, and the trend continues this evening with Little Gold, Warbler PI, Literature and The Eastern Sea.

Christian DeRoeck fronts Little Gold, a Brooklyn group that indulges in his country songwriting tendencies. It's a minimalist group with just guitar, voice, violin and drums, but they make a nice racket. Here's the band endearing themselves to us with a cover of our own Daniel Johnston's "Walking the Cow."

Warbler Pl, a Texas artist, trades in the folksy, singer-songwriter strains of indie rock. The Eastern Sea you may recognize, and their song "The Snow" caught our attention last year with its unique construction and lyrical charms. The group have a self-titled EP out right now, and their music appears on the maudlin, emo, British soap opera internet mini-series Freak.

And last, local boys Literature are bringing their full frontal rock to open minds. Check them out here before they hit the big stage at the Pecan Street Festival later this month.
