Get there early and float away to dreamland courtesy of The Soldier Thread’s lush compositions. Patricia Lynn’s soothing voice rings true as it harmonizes with the co-vocalists and floats upon the exquisitely layered soundscapes. You’ll find quaint passages for reflection, explosive codas for exhilaration, and euphoric moments to awaken any hidden emotions. It’s somewhat of a surprise that despite (or should we say in spite of) being featured on MTV’s “The Real World: Hollywood,” The Soldier Thread isn’t a household name yet, even in Austin. Sandwiched between the two aforementioned bands is Wideawake, a veteran local outfit that harvests equally radio-ready, TV-spot-friendly rock ditties and should fit in perfectly on tonight’s bill.
You can also sample the wares of a number of Austin business’ at La Zona this evening -- Tripp Custom T-Shirts will be on hand to print custom tees, which you can show off in Chad Harlan’s photobooth, while enjoying a tasty treat from The Cupcake Bar or a succulent snack from Frank. We’re especially partial to fantastic Frank’s experiments in wienerology -- not sure what choice dogs they’ll be offering at this event but you best hope you have the opportunity to order at least their Chicago Dog or Chili Cheese Dog (although you may have to wait until you make the trip to their location on Fourth and Colorado to “pork it”).
