Marc Katz Wants Lieutenant Governor Gig

Exuberant Austinite Marc Katz, owner of Katz's Deli, intends to run as the Democratic candidate for Texas' lieutenant governor position next year, he announced over the weekend.

Katz, who last made a stab at public office with his unsuccessful mayoral bid in 2003, told the Austin Business Journal that his lack of political savvy is exactly one of the positive qualities that he would highlight in his campaign. "I'm not a politico, and that's one of the best things I bring to the table," he said. "That's what I'm running on. Because if you keep doing the same thing and expecting different results, that's the definition of insanity."

"The way I see it, people have been making decisions about the economy, unemployment, health insurance etcetera, but they don’t take action," Katz said. "Decisions don’t mean anything. We cannot just afford to make decisions we have to take action... We have the resources, the people, the money to be a lot more than we are. Until we get the politicos out of there and get in some critical thinkers, we're going to continue to gradually deteriorate."
