Longhorns Around the Web

Each Friday, we'll be offering up a sampling of Longhorn- and Big 12-related sports coverage making its way around the Web.

  • It's official. Vondrell McGee has outlasted Fozzy Whitaker for starting duties at tailback, much like last season. Though if the results are anything like last season, Fozzy will still have his shot.

  • Video: Broadcasting staple Brent Musburger and Ohio State pitchman Kirk Herbstreit preview the Big 12.
  • What's this guy been up to? Former Texas coach John Mackovic talks about the upcoming season for the Palm Springs Desert Sun.
  • Lots has been written about Oklahoma's inexperience on the offensive line, but little has been made of Texas' relative experience at the position. Kevin Sherrington of the Dallas Morning News believes the position could be the difference in the Big 12 this season.

  • Video: Neat little documentary about game day preparations with some commentary from Mack Brown, among others.
  • Colt McCoy's mustache is gone now, but saved here on the Web for your enjoyment.
  • A well-edited highlight video of Texas' big hits last season, via the crew at Burnt Orange Nation.
  • These are pretty stale at this point, but a ranking of the top 25 QB's in the land, from New Era Scouting.
  • Elsewhere, Texas baller J'Covan Brown, who was academically ineligible for what would have been his freshman season, has apparently made the grade, and will be eligible for the upcoming season, adding to the Longhorns' already impressive depth.
