It's finally here. The handful of us that are un-fledgling Mew fans in the U.S. are finally able to go to a store and physically purchase the Denmark-based band's latest. Though difficult titles and bizarre interludes fester here, there's more fantastic prog-pop coming in waves, song after song. "Introducing Palace Players" employs the group's fondness for off-kilter drums and machine gun guitars, layered with dreamy synths and vocals for maximum Mew-itude. "Repeater Beater" and "Hawaii" are both highlights, but the departure and some of the most interesting moments for the band come in the less likely nooks of this gem. "Beach" pops like a Phoenix tune, and "Silas the Magic Car" features lead vocals with the least amount of production yet -- its moments like this that make this record as gratifying as it is. Little moments and big, thundering grand gestures both play nicely from beginning to end.
