- Sherwood Cryer, 83, Co-Founder of the Pasadena nightclub Gilley’s—the venue featured in the film “Urban Cowboy’s—goes to that great honky-tonk in the sky.
- They’re no angels: Katrina victims whom Oprah helped get new homes on “Angel Lane” are in court. They allegedly bilked rent money out of FEMA after moving into their new homes!
- When we read about jewelry being stuffed into bears, we immediately wondered if this crime had anything to do with the plushophile community. (It didn't, that's just the first thing we thought of.)
- We were terribly saddened when we learned that the beautiful old South Austin home of Matador Records Co-Owner Gerard Cosloy burned down last week. Allegedly Tony Brummel of Victory Records sent an email to Cosloy attributing this house fire to “Karma.” Cosloy was not amused, as detailed on his blog.
- A UT associate sociology professor reveals in his book “Forbidden Fruit” that religious devotion might predict sexual behavior in teens.
- Will Paul McCartney be playing “Lovely Rita” tonight? It might be a poor choice reminding fans about “parking” or “towing” given the expected parking fuss with the Texas Rangers playing Minnesota right next door to his Arlington concert!
- Warning! Even if you’ve paid the City of Austin for parking in one of the new pay stations, you’ll get a parking ticket if you don’t display the receipt on your curb-side window!
