Festival of Cheese Comes to Austin This Weekend [Giveaway]

Don't be surprised if downtown smells like feet this Saturday—the American Cheese Society is bringing attendees the finest of fromage, from fragrant to creamy, to the Hilton, in what can only be described as the most outrageous display of cheese in the country.

With more than 1,100 varieties from more than 30 states (and Canada) available for sampling, the Festival of Cheese is a dairy dream. Cow’s milk cheddars and goat’s milk Bries, chèvres and triple-creams, stinky washed-rind cheeses and blue-veined cheeses—all from the nation’s finest cheesemakers—will vie for space in festival goers' stomachs. The festival will also highlight category winners from the previous days, and we won't be surprised if some of our Lone Star cheeses make the grade—last year, Pure Luck Grade A Goat Dairy of Dripping Springs, Haute Goat Creamery of Lubbock and the Mozzarella Company of Dallas were among the winners circle.

Don't get scared off by the stinky smells, and bring an empty belly. The evening will also feature vendors of complementary products such as crackers, breads, spreads, beer and wine. Cheese fans looking to purchase what they taste won’t want to miss the following day’s Cheese Sale, on Sunday from 10 am to 1 pm at the Hilton, which will give locals the opportunity to buy artisan cheeses at discount prices. All proceeds from the sale benefit the ACS Scholarship Fund.

Congrats to our winner, Matt!
