ACL Organizes Volunteers, Rock & Recycle Program

This year, volunteers at ACL will need to pay a fee to participate. The fee ($10) will go toward enhancements to the volunteer program. For your ten bucks (called an application fee), you'll get food court coupons, organic t-shirts, and a new recruiting program that for the first time will offer volunteers the chance to pick their shifts. Though this is the first year ACL will charge a volunteer fee, most other festivals have been doing so for years (including Coachella and Bonnaroo). A portion of the ACL fee will go to the Austin Parks Foundation.

They're also ramping up the Rock and Recycle program. This year, participants who get their 'green cards' and take part in eco-mindful activities around the park will have a chance to win a 2010 Honda Insight. Activities include riding the shuttle, filling bags with recyclables, refilling water bottles at H20 stations, and visiting non-profit kiosks at the park. For more details, click here.

Now ain't that some shit. ACL Fest, a good corporate citizen but definitely a for-profit venture, is going to charge you to provide them with free labor. Wonders never cease.
