Texas Basketball Announces 2009-10 Schedule

With its announcement of the complete schedule for the upcoming season, the Texas men’s basketball team left little to be desired, as the calendar includes dates with three of 2009's four national semifinalists.

The highlight of the schedule ought to be a December 19 meeting against the defending national champion North Carolina Tar Heels at the recently unveiled Cowboys Stadium in Arlington. Despite the Tar Heels forfeiting the majority of their firepower to the NBA after last season's title run, the encounter with the Longhorns will nonetheless be a national showcase for two of the top recruiting classes in the country.

Other non-conference engagements include meetings with Michigan State at home on December 22 and at the Connecticut Huskies on January 23.

The conference schedule features the return of the Kansas Jayhawks to the Erwin Center, as well as visits by traditional rivals Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, and Texas A&M. In all, the Horns will face at least nine teams that advanced to the NCAA Tournament in 2009, and potentially a tenth, Pittsburgh, as part of the O’Reilly Auto Parts CBE Classic in Kansas City from November 23-24.
