  • Austin's Peek-A-Boo records is prepping Octopus Project's upcoming Golden Beds release, due this week. Peel is getting ready for a hiatus due to Josh Permenter's move to San Fransisco, so July 31 will be your last chance to see them for a spell. Supported by {{{Sunset}}} and Little Stolen Moments, they'll perform at Baby Blue studios around 9 p.m.
  • Paul Ray, host of KUT Radio’s Twine Time, has been named to the Texas Radio Hall of Fame.
  • The Free Press Summer Fest happening Aug. 8-9 in Houston, and will feature performances by Voxtot, Of Montreal, Broken Social Scene, Explosions in the Sky, Devin the Dude, What Made Milwaukee Famous and many more. For your chance to win tickets, follow the jump below and fill out the form.
  • Tonight at Mother Egan's Irish Pub, Dart Music International hosts a happy hour and benefit, 5:30-8:00 pm. Dart "works with small indie/rock/pop bands from around the world. We make it possible for them to come to Austin and our region by decreasing costs on things like visas, logistics, and other services while increasing opportunities to earn some income through paying gigs and merchandise sales."
  • The A.V. Club's Fame Whores qualifying round is tonight at the Mohawk. Head down, sign up by 8 p.m., and get a chance to display your useless talent to everyone. The eventual winner gets a slot at Fun Fun Fun Fest in November.
