Adam Yauch Diagnosed With Cancer, Beastie Boys Cancel ACL Fest

The Beastie Boys have announced that due to Yauch's recent cancer diagnosis, their performance at this year's ACL Festival is canceled. The good news, it seems, is that Yauch's doctors have caught it early, and are referring to the situation as "treatable." The release of their upcoming record, The Hot Sauce Committee Pt 1 has also been postponed.

Best wishes to Yauch and his family. The big C is one of the scariest things out there, I hope he makes it through okay.

This leaves a big hole in ACL's headliner bill. Hope they still have time to find a suitable replacement (i.e. not Thievery Corp.). Best wishes to Adam Yauch on a speedy & full recovery.

Any word whether the folks at C3 plan to get a replacement for them? I thought it really sucked when White Stripes canceled 2 years ago, and then they just pushed up Muse instead. Especially since they have more time to replace with another headliner this year--I think they owe it to early ticketholders to get someone else on the bill.
