Help an Austinite Out: Neiliyo's Quest to Lolla [Vote Today]
We'll never forget the first time we saw Neiliyo perform at The Beauty Bar. As the opening act of the night, he had no trouble hyping up the crowd. He fired up the iPod and electric guitar and an extreme dance party immediately encircled him. Those too shy or too cool to dance got a special visit from Neiliyo, who loves dancing behind unsuspecting strangers (especially those just entering the venue). Neiliyo is pretty hard to ignore when rapping along to hyper electronic dance beats while rockin' some Ray Bans, fratty attire and boat shoes sans socks. Unlike some Macbook-mix-fiends, Neiliyo doesn't rely on iPods and dance parties alone. The guy's got talent. His seductive voice, funkified lyrics and floor-dancing spells create the total package.
His popularity, charm and mastery of the mix table have landed him in the semi-finals for the Dell Lounge Last Band Standing Contest. He's just an arm's reach away from the grand prize, a slot at Lollapalooza in August. Voting ends today for the semi-finals and the top two bands compete at the final event in Chicago.
