Weekend Music Preview: The Veils @ The Mohawk [Sunday]
Sunday, July 19
The Mohawk (912 Red River)
8 p.m. | $10 Advance
[info] | [tickets]
Born in New Zealand, Finn formed The Veils in England at the start of the century but the remaining original members left the band shortly after the release of The Runaway Found in 2004. Finn returned to New Zealand temporarily, rallied some friends from high school to join The Veils, and eventually returned to England with a new set of songs. The impressive Nux Vomica (recorded in L.A.) followed in 2006 and The Veils persisted through further line-up changes to drop Sun Gands this past April.
The Veils occupy the middle slot on tonight’s bill -- get there early to catch Other Girls’ sparkling melodies and stay late for Foreign Born’s textured soundscapes.
