Now this, this is going to be some kind of unhinged, goofy, and indubitably fun time. Atlanta’s the Coathangers are in town again, and this time around they’re supporting their new record and first for Seattle’s Suicide Squeeze label, the aptly titled Scramble. For a band that essentially began as a one-off joke at a house party, the Coathangers have gotten a lot of mileage out of a crass abortion reference and a sound that's somewhere between vintage Athens new wave and a ramshackle Kathleen Hanna tribute/novelty act.

Earlier songs like “Nestle In My Boobies” and “Don’t Touch My Shit” are guaranteed party starters, and while their new long-player Scramble does feature its fair share of reckless abandon, a few slow jams are interspersed as breathers between the hyperactive, chanted choruses and the rhythm section’s persistent shambolic calamity. Closer inspection may reveal more unpacking of the band's music is required, but we’ll leave that to you for now. Just plan on being at the Mohawk on Saturday night for what's almost guaranteed to be one of the best dance parties of the summer. Woven Bones and La Snacks, two local bands that are definitely worth showing up early for, open the show.
