Preview: Poppets at Club 1808
The Swedish garage-pop duo Poppets are playing their first American show this evening at Club 1808.
The band trade in fast-paced, punky numbers with singalong choruses and quick guitar strumming. Without a drummer, members Lina and Magnus pound through their tracks with overlapping vocals set to the beat of a drum machine. As mentioned, this is the group's first show in America, so come show them what drinking and watching bands is all about here in the States.
Attendees will also witness the confrontational punk of locals Love Collector and a set from DJ Katherine. Another possible band performing will be Cruddy and the Cassingles ("now with bass!"), who revel in lo-fi thrash.
