Statesman to Begin Printing Waco Tribune-Herald

The Statesman will begin printing and packaging the Waco Tribune-Herald as part of the Austin newspaper's growing printing business.

Tribune-Herald publisher Belinda Gaudet, a former general manager at the Statesman, announced today that the paper would stop printing and packaging at its Waco shop on July 13. Forty-three positions (25 full-time, 18 part-time) will be eliminated in Waco as part of the move.

The Statesman will print and package the Waco paper at its Congress Avenue facility, where they also print The Austin Chronicle, The Daily Texan, and several other local publications. The Tribune-Herald will be written, edited, and designed in Waco with finished page layouts sent electronically to Austin. The finished product will then be trucked back to Waco.

Both the Austin and Waco papers are owned by Cox Enterprises, who put both properties up for sale last August.
