Lots of neat vinyl reissues this week, as well as other notable first-runs. B is for Bob comes out today, which is the first collection of Bob Marley's music to be rearranged for children. Also of note is a 7-cd Creedence Clearwater Revival box set, the first two R.E.M. albums remastered and reissued on vinyl, and much more.
Yahowa 13 Magnificence in the Memory
In the early 1970s, members of the commune The Source Family branched out into their own strain of psychedelic music. Calling themselves Yahowa 13, they released nine proper LPs and sold them at the Source restaurant owned by the commune and its leader, Father Yod. After Yod's death the group splintered, but just last year we saw the release of Sonic Portation by a reunited Yahowa 13. Drag City has done their part to reexamine the band's legacy with Magnificence in the Memory, a selection of unreleased tracks chosen by Dave Nuss of the No Neck Blues Band.
