Red Collar @ Red 7 [Thursday]

Red Collar has been rocking the pants off concertgoers in North Carolina for a few years now. Tonight, you too can get a taste of the Durham outfit’s frenetic live show.

The band formed in 2005 when Beth and Jason Kutchma hooked up with Michael Jackson (no, not that one) via a Craigslist post. Eventually, Jonathan Truesdale, one of Red Collar’s biggest fans early on, joined on drums and the line-up was set. The band dropped The Hands Up EP in 2007 and followed it up this March with the Pilgrim full-length. Red Collar’s brand of spirited rock ‘n’ roll contains plenty of crunching riffs and memorable hooks but the anthemic chant-alongs, freewheeling chorus’, and plentiful woh-oh-oh vocal stylings are the highlights of these bolts of energy. In fact, the vocal interplay is quite exhilarating all through and supplemented by everyday lyrical content that should speak to most stuck in the 8-5 regime.

Head down to Red 7 this evening and catch one of The Research Triangle’s best kept secrets in action; locals Exeter, Mahabone, and Grand Archer open.
