Santigold Sure to Spark a Dance Party on Monday [Giveaway]

Audacious and lovely, Santigold has stepped to the forefront of the electro-rap following among us. With somewhat of an identity crisis in media coverage, let the debate be settled: she was originally called Santogold—hence her debut album title—but has officially changed to Santigold, the "o" being dropped after she was sued by a filmmaker named Santo Gold. No biggie—the new moniker more closely resembles her birth name, Santi White, anyway.

Formerly the singer of punk band Stiffed, she has waned far away from her ska roots, but holds on to the funkiness and originality. Major hits "L.E.S. Artistes" and "Creator" have become radically popular due to the sheer rockability of Santigold's sound, along with the underlying message of female power and independence.

Regardless of comparisons to the likes of M.I.A., we still think she's managed to mold a bold sound from a cornucopia of musical influences. With beats that unconsciously captivate our hips and inner-reggae aura, Santigold is suited for inspiring spontaneous and all-consuming dance parties, like so. And the spacious outdoor arena at Stubbs should allow plenty of room to start your own "Unstoppable" one-man dance party. Don't worry if you get stuck in the back—Santigold's beaming voice will resonate throughout the streets of Red River district on Monday night.

Due to some wonky week-night noise ordinances, the show will probably end early, around 11:30 p.m., but the party can continue down the road at Beauty Bar, where the official afterparty will take place. Expect tunes from Devlin Darko and the Spank Rock DJs.

"Due to some wonky week-night noise ordinances, the show will probably end early, around 11:30 p.m."

actually the ordinance as it applies to stubbs is nothing new, for at least 4 years the following curfew (as i understand it) has applied:
sunday through wednesday 10:30 pm
thursday 11 pm
friday and saturday midnight (though they usually allow for a 30 minute buffer, with an 11:30 ending)

just a heads up for those going to the show, usually a monday headliner starts 9ish
