Thieves in East Austin Home Robbery Caught on Web Camera
The kids in the above photo broke into a French Place home yesterday morning while both owners were at work—and one of them got to see the whole thing happen online!
Around 10 a.m. yesterday, Greg McGuire was alerted by his home security company that a break-in had just occurred at his house. McGuire, a computer engineer, happened to have mounted a wireless web cam in the couple's living room, and when he pulled up the live feed, he was greeted by a strange sight: two dudes were in his house and in the middle of stealing all of the gadgets.
McGuire immediately notified cops, but both thieves had fled by the time authorities showed up. An estimated $1,000 worth of electronics were stolen during the robbery.
Neither of the couple's English settlers (for whom the camera was installed in the first place) did much in the way of deterring the criminals, though in one of the camera stills the male dog, Douglas, can be seen staring at the door as the thieves make their way in.
Statesman has a slideshow of the whole incident. We've reposted a few of the images after the jump.
