Texas and TCU Meet For Berth In College World Series

After splitting a pair of games over the weekend, Texas and TCU meet again tonight to determine who goes to the College World Series.

The game is set for 6 pm at UFCU Disch-Falk Field and will be shown on ESPN2. Freshman Taylor Jungmann will start for the Longhorns (45-14-1), while Tyler Lockwood will go for the Horned Frogs (40-17).

Over the weekend, Texas set a NCAA record for most sacrifices in one game (7), but it was timely hitting and a complete game performance from Chance Ruffin that made the difference in the Horns' 10-4 Game 1 win Saturday. Texas Coach Augie Garrido warned his team that things wouldn't fall in place so perfectly for Sunday's game, and he was right. TCU right-hander Paul Gerrish kept the Longhorns in check through seven innings and Eric Marshall finished up for the save in the Horned Frogs' 3-2 win. Texas starter Cole Green recorded a solid start (six hits over 7.2 innings), but gave up a pair of home runs that did him in.

Texas is the nation's No. 1 seed and is looking for its 33rd appearance at the College World Series, while TCU is hoping to make it to Omaha for the first time.
