More Details Emerge on Spiro's Shooting
Booked to open last night's show, they failed to show up for the gig, finally arriving at the club around closing time and demanding to have the headliners' set cut short. As the Statesman reports, show promoter Ramone “Sicc” Stewart denied their request, which caused one of the group members to take a swing at him. After the scuffle, during which Stewart himself was stabbed in the arm, the group was tossed out by bouncers.
News 8 Austin has a quote from APD Officer David Socho, one of the first authorities to arrive on the scene. "We heard a lot of loud pops, I assumed at first it was firecrackers, there were so many pops," he said. "It sounded close to Seventh and Red River when I got up here, I was flagged down that there was a woman that was shot in the stomach."
"As I got up to her, there was a lot of chaos in front of club Spiro's, and I realized there was two or three other people down, and while I was trying to tend to her, calling for EMS, I realized there were two more inside the club that were shot inside the doorway.”
Contrary to earlier reports, the woman who was shot in the stomach is now listed in critical condition. The suspects have been identified but remain at large.
