Spurs to Face OKC Thunder at Erwin Center

Kevin Durant will be returning to the hardwood of the Frank Erwin Center this October, this time as a member of the Oklahoma City Thunder. The former Longhorn All-American and Naismith Player of the Year will lead the Thunder against Tim Duncan, Tony Parker, and the San Antonio Spurs in an NBA preseason game.

The game will be played at 7:30 pm on October 20. Tickets will go on sale Monday at 10 a.m. and can be purchased at TexasBoxOffice.com.

Since departing for the NBA, Durant has become one of the league's most prolific scorers. After being named Rookie of the Year in 2008, Durant was the NBA’s sixth-leading scorer in his second year.

The Spurs will be looking to rebound from a disappointing first-round playoff loss to the Mavericks from which third-leading scorer and sixth-man extraordinaire Manu Ginobili was absent due to injury. Ginobili should be available for the game.

Those 5 minutes of Duncan and Durant should be awesome.

  • Still, it's an opportunity to see an NBA game without having to drive to Houston, Dallas or San Antonio.

Pro tip: sign up for TexasBoxOffice newsletter, it gets you pre-sale codes to buy the tickets earlier. I scored 13th row for this game for my son and I already. We're looking forward to it. He's never been to an NBA game.

I was somewhat excited until I read the word "preseason".
