Epic Show Alert: Loxsly CD Release w/Oh No Oh My!, Corto Maltese, TV Torso, and Booher & The Turkeys at the Mohawk

Where to begin? If you read the title of this post and didn't pee a little, then either you're: A) a ledger-blind CPA in your mid-to-late 50s, B) a dimension-traveling psychic man-child just beginning to understand our culture, or C) a very lucky Austin resident about to have more new favorite bands than you know what to do with.

Really, all three of the aforementioned will find something to swoon over in this lineup. Known for their everything-and-the-kitchen-sink live performance (in the past they've included trashbags of confetti, dabbled in quadrophonics, and never leave home without a set's worth of interesting home-made projector footage to play), the Loxsly boys have pulled out all the stops this time (again), bringing aboard the crème de la crème of Austin's indie-pop scene to help christen their new musical vessel. Considering their history in the scene, they've got enough in the bank to make it work. These young space cadets have, over the course of six years and three albums, evolved wildly into much more than the starry-eyed, bedroom-recording Flaming Lips' acolytes of yesteryear. Their new record, aptly titled Tomorrow's Fossils, shows a band putting it all on the line, taking that fabled stab at indie-stardom, and, in our opinion, deserving the chance to make their case. Don't have to take our word for it tho': check out their music video debut for "As The Constellation’s Arms Uncurled" over at Magnet, and "Lamprey Eels" over at some site called Pitchfork.

And the small festival's worth of bands supporting them in this fete? You got your eclectic scene mini-legends Oh No Oh My! plugging away at their spot-on pop nugs and a little band called Corto Maltese that's come into it's own of late, wooing fans with effortless guitar heroics over swaggering, deliberately addictive rock. On the back end, Sound Team alums TV Torso make an appearance fresh off of a stellar debut at Club DeVille last week, and Booher and the Turkeys strap on axes to "gobble" up the applause for those awesome enough to show up on time. It's going to be a party to remember, and it's at the Mohawk, so there's enough space to bring every friend and family member in a 50-mile radius, whether they be jaded accountants or space-time manipulating denizens of distant utopias. They'll all have a blast.
