Star (Gazing) Trekkies: Special Star Trek Premier Party Benefitting the Austin Planetarium

In a tactical move of sheer intergalactic brilliance, the enterprising people over at the Austin Planetarium have forged an alliance with the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum to bring you a Star Trek premier experience like no other. On Friday, May 8th from 6-9pm, the grounds and lobby of the Bob Bullock will play host to Austin's Trekkies and astronomy buffs alike, featuring none other than cosmonaut and space tourist extraordinaire, Richard Garriott.

While it may be true that both of the Star Trek IMAX evening screenings are sold out at this point, that doesn't mean that you shouldn't head out early to the museum, where you will be serenaded with music from the Final Frontier by the Austin Wind Symphony, revved up by the improv stylings of Start Trekkin, all while enjoying Star Trek themed beverages and snacks amongst the sure-to-be costumed masses. Considering that your $10 entrance fee will go towards the fund raising effort to build Austin a world class Planetarium (we love planetariums!), this is definitely what people call a win-win situation.

Did we mention that you can also purchase raffle tickets to win your very own Zero-G flight? Your delightfully dubbed "vomit comet" trip will be hosted by Garriott himself and could be yours at the low, low raffle ticket price of $10, plush just a skoshe of luck. And, if you have super-important-can't-get-out-of-plans on Friday, you can still purchase raffle tickets online, and, natch, all of the monies go directly to the Planetarium fund. May you live long, prosper and experience weightlessness, even for just a brief moment.
