AustinTexas.org Nominated For a Webby Award, Vote Now!

Austin's very own Austin Convention & Visitors Bureau’s website has been nominated for a prestigious 2009 Webby Award in the Tourism category.

The so-called "Oscars of the Internet," Webby Awards recognize the best in online content, from websites and interactive advertising to film and other media.

The nomination committee credits AustinTexas.org's miniature local guides and "down-home Texas feel" as among the reasons for the nod. It's currently in the running for both the Webby (picked by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences) and the People’s Voice Award, the latter of which you have a direct say in.

Other nominees in the nifty tourism website category are the official sites for Australia and Sweden, who currently hold the lead two spots, respectively — they're up against countries, people. Montreal and Jersey trail behind, but probably not by far.

Whether it's because you love BBQ, cherish live music, or just can't let go of that blood feud against the Swedes (we won't tattle), Austinist highly recommends that you click on over to register and vote before the April 30th deadline—it takes all of 30 seconds to do. Winners will be announced on May 5.

  • Any idea what agency worked on this site? They should get some accolades, too. Looks great!
