Art Week Austin: Friday's Events

Our coverage of Art Week Austin continues with a rundown of today's events:

Art Talk: Art Critics, Critique, and Community Panel: Join the conversation about arts writing with a panel that includes writers from the Statesman, Fluent Collaborative/Might Be Good, Austin Film Festival, and Fusebox Festival. The panel will be moderated by Robert Faries from the Chronicle. The discussion takes place at Domy Books and begins at 4pm.

Art Spaces: An open house of sorts for some of Austin's most prominent galleries. Check out what's going on at Wally Workman, dberman, Flatbed, and others as they host openings and receptions through out the night. Art Talk: Temporary Public Art: Austin's Art in Public Places Program hosts a panel discussion of artists who have created the public pieces for the Texas Biennial. Moderated by Risa Puleo of the Blanton, this Art Talk will take place at 8pm at the Mexican-American Cultural Center. Stay after the discussion for the after party featuring Rodeo HoHo.

pink unplugged: The latest incarnation of Jaclyn Pryor's pink: a love courier service debuts today at City Hall. The interactive installation connects love not senders and receivers through a love factory that will temporarily be set up at our city's center. Messages of affection will be be bottled at the factory and delivered by bicycle or on foot by pink's messengers.

Art Ride: Public Bike Tour: Throughout Art Week, Mellow Johnny's and UT student docents will be leading easy rides to public art installations downtown and on campus. Highlights will include stops at the outdoor commissions for the Texas Biennial and pieces from UT's Public Art Program. For locations and route information, visit Mellow Johnny's site.
