Friends Exhibit at Domy Books Opens Tonight [Art Preview]

Whether it makes you think of your drinking buddies or Matthew Perry and Courtney Cox, the word "friends" carries some positive connotations (and may have just put that "I'll Be There For You" song in your head for the rest of the afternoon). It's a good enough word that visual artist/musician/all-around creative badass Tim Kerr used it for the title of his new exhibition at Domy Books, which opens tonight and features the work of Kerr and four of his pals - Bill Daniel, Cynthia Connolly, Rich Jacobs, and Michael Sieben.

The show, which runs through June 4th, features drawings and illustration (Kerr, Jacobs, and Sieben) as well as photography (Connolly, and Jacobs), and documents a collection of friendships forged through a common link to the mid-80's and early 90's punk rock scene. Kerr hand-picked each of participants for the exhibit and helpfully includes a chart to determine how each of them know one another (categories include "music", "art", and "skate"), which reinforces the theme that this is about celebrating friendships, and the way art can be at its best when viewed as a conversation among those friends. Kerr invites the public to come to tonight's free opening, where you just might make some friends.

Friends will be on display at Domy Books until June 4th.
