If you thought you'd never see this day, you're not alone. Tonight, the Austin Music Hall will get jaw-droppingly loud thanks to the pioneering shoegaze sounds of Kevin Shields and My Bloody Valentine. After over 15 years of inactivity, the group emerged to play a few dates in 2008, and are currently working (off and on) on completing the third full-length album they started back in the '90s. The band are fresh from a noisy, brilliant performance at Coachella, which Billboard described as "the most radical, difficult and unforgettable hour of music in [Coachella's] decade-long history." While the group have taken advantage of their Pixies-like alt-god status to buy $200,000 worth of gear for this reunion tour, the songs they're playing are strictly the material from their classic albums Isn't Anything and Loveless. In a recent interview with NME, Shields hinted that after this round of spring and summer shows, the lineup of the band may change and the setlists will likely focus on newer compositions. So buckle up, bring your earplugs, and get ready for some abstract, warm, and soaring music you may never get the chance to hear in person again.
We have a pair of tickets for tonight's show for one lucky reader - enter your details on the form after the jump, and take note: don't blame us when you can't hear for the next seven days. It's not like you weren't warned.
