Where Art is Hung: ArtErotica 2009 [Benefit for AIDS Services of Austin]

This Saturday night, the Octopus Club, the volunteer arm of AIDS Services of Austin, will be hosting an art exhibit and silent auction of over 200 rather naughty works. The event will be held at the Copper Tank Events Center, and will feature provocative art in a variety of mediums, all exploring erotica in its many forms throughout history.

ArtErotica has been called Austin's 'Sexiest Nonprofit Fundraiser' and all proceeds go to The Paul Kirby Emergency Fund. The PKF provides financial assistance to people living with HIV and AIDS in Austin who find themselves in a financial crisis. Over the past 21 years the Octopus Club has raised $1.2 million for the fund and last year’s ArtErotica pulled in $40,000.

Although the price tag for a night of visual eroticism may seem pretty hefty, the event boasts free booze, erotic desserts, and live DJs; definitely a higher value than dancing the night away at the OCH. And if you and your friends are in even more of a philanthropic mood, the organizers are still in need of volunteers to serve, set up, work the entries and exits (tee-hee), and of course go-go dance.

Follow this post after the jump for a video of highlights from last year's event, as well as proof that some erotic art is safe for your toddler’s bedroom.
