Coming back from a holiday weekend is never fun - just as you've begun to relax, reality chimes in with it's nasty Monday morning alarm. Fortunately, this is Austin and that means Monday evening will be a-bumpin' with a great music, giving you reason enough to keep the party going. And we don't want any pathetic excuses like, "it's a school/work night." How often do you get the chance to hear ear drum annihilating electronic mix up music? Okay, maybe pretty often, but Crystal Castles is a little different from the rest and worth checking out. Coming in from Canada, the trance-like duo bring thumping beats that could disrupt a pacemaker melded with glitches of gameboy sounds. Not to mention Alice Glass's vocals, which cut through the sound like, well, glass. While anyone with a laptop claims they can produce electronic music, Crystal Castles manage to keep the art with the equipment. The bouncy blips are catchy enough to dance to without feeling like you're at a rave. For just two people, they manage to produce an aura that's pretty ferocious, warping their melodies into the brain like a disease. Their MySpace page cities their influences as murder, blank looks on girls and knives. Clearly this boy-girl outfit is all about disrupting the social norm, and we're okay with that. Opening up is Vega, a Turkish alt-rock band and it's all going down at La Zona Rosa. The show is sold out, but follow the jump for a chance to score some free tickets.
