Preview: Red, White and New at the Driskill [Food & Wine Fest]

This slurp-fest is billed as an “anything but Cabernet” tasting, by which they are not suggesting peach and watermelon wine coolers will be bandied about. Oh no, au contraire. Instead, several winemakers will be on hand to offer some one-on-one grape love and education, and turn tasters on to their latest offerings.

Wineries that’ll be represented include: Amavi Cellars, Calina, Cambria Estate Winery, Carmel Road Winery, Ferrari-Carano Vineyards & Winery, Grgich Hills Estate, Long Boat, Louis M Martini Winery, Medusa and Spellbound Wines (Folio Fine Wine Partners), Northstar, Pepper Bridge Winery, Silverado Vineyards, Spring Valley Vineyards, Ste. Michelle Wine Estates, Treana Winery, William Hill Estate Winery

And winemakers, principals, and spokespersons who’ll be waxing poetic on the fruity juice of those juicy fruits include: Austin Hope, David 'Merf' Merfield, Denise Shurtleff, Ivan Giotenov, Michael Eckstein, Mike Martini, Ralf Holdenreid , Serge Laville, Diana Goff, Galen McCorkle, Ray Goff, Russ Weis, Violet Grgich, Bill Golden, and Joel Butler MW

Exec Driskill Chef Jonathan Gelman is going to be spinning the discs at this soiree, and those discs will be porcelain, not vinyl, and thoughtfully topped (never gluttonously heaped) with delightful food offerings to complement the latest offerings of the masters of the vino-verse.

Red, White and New takes place on Friday, April 17 at The Victorian Room of the Driskill Hotel.
