State House Passes Strip Club Tax
Rep. Senfronia Thompson's strip club tax bill passed the Texas House yesterday. Thompson's bill would take 10% of the gross receipts from any strip club (or other such "adult entertainment" business) that charges an admission fee, replacing the contested $5 charge per customer that the 2007 Legislature passed. The money from this new tax would go towards a support system for Texas victims of sexual violence. The bill is now headed to the Senate. [News8Austin]
