As if we didn’t have enough reasons to venture outside of our homes for a live music fix with SXSW, ACL, Fun Fun Fun Fest and the countless major concerts throughout the year, our local institution of higher learning UT provides additional irresistible entertainment throughout the year on a regular basis. This Saturday at the Main Mall at UT you will be able to catch Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, who have actually played at all of the aforementioned festivals, for a free show at this year’s Forty Acres Fest. Past performers at this fest providing music, games, food and fun for all have included The Roots, Common, Little Richard and more. But, this time it’s the Brooklyn-based indie art rockers.

For anyone who keeps at least one toe in the emerging music scene, there’s no doubt you’ve run across this band who exploded on the scene four years ago with their self-titled debut. They rose from a very organic, underground swelling of interest, and evolved to selling out venues like Stubb’s pretty quickly. But, was it too quickly? With just two full-length albums under their belts, CYHSY announced in January they were taking a break to pursue side projects, and many speculated that they were calling it quits. Either way, you should head out to the UT campus this weekend to make sure and get your fix because the future is always uncertain. The group did, however, perform a new song on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon last month, and you can download the song on their website.
