Fashion Abounds This Week
- South Lamar's hippie-chic eco-boutique W3LL People is partnering with the American Heart Association to host the Beautiful Hearts Social, a festive evening of "earth-friendly makeovers," assorted giveaways and more. 5% of proceeds from the evening go to AHA's Go Red For Women campaign. Wednesday, April 1, 5-8 p.m. @ W3LL (215 South Lamar)
- Austinite designer Elisa Jimenez, who competed commendably in Project Runway: Season 4, is pairing with bag maker Moe Nadel of Meader Ware for Pop-up & Play, a one-day-only boutique showcase at Malverde. Jimenez, one of Vogue's emerging designers to watch, is offering up pieces from three different lines, priced from $20 to $225: Urban Nomads, which features 97%-sustainable "avant-tailoring"; Hunger World, a "spontaneous couture" line spanning her entire 14-year-long career; and Other, which is something of a mix between the two. Nadel will be exhibiting "one-of-a-kind sculptural carry-all bags." Thursday, April 2, 6-9 p.m. @ Malverde (West 2nd Street and Guadalupe)
- Slate Men's Apparel closed a few months ago, but Soigné Boutique, its sister shop next door, has expanded into the space and effectively doubled its offerings. They're throwing a reopening soiree, replete with fashion show, snacks, complimentary drinks, and 20% off all clothes and accessories (excluding jewelry). Thursday, April 2, 6-8 p.m. @ Soigné Boutique (4800 Burnet Rd #420)
- ZACH Theatre hosts its annual Gala Red Hot and Soul, with two separate fashion shows, a silent auction, and assorted theatrics befitting one of Austin's most innovative arts organizations. The first fashion show features more casual designs by Linda Asaf, Rene Geneva, and Gail Chovan; the second is a full runway show of vintagewear from Cream Vintage, Flashback and Amelia’s Retro Vogue. Additionally, the evening includes performances by local and Broadway actors, a live auction, and much more. Details and tickets are available on ZACH's website. Saturday, April 4, 6:30 p.m. @ Hilton Austin Downtown. Tickets $250-$500
