Austin Designer Sues Courtney Love After Online Rants
Austin fashion designer Dawn Simorangkir, who operates the Boudoir Queen label, filed a lawsuit against Courtney Love last week, alleging the singer spread "vile and vicious lies" about her in a series of online postings.
The suit accuses Love of libel, invasion of privacy, intentional interference with her business, infliction of emotional distress and breach of contract.
In the filing, Simorangkir claims that Love began buying Boudoir Queen clothes in 2008, then became "infatuated" with her, flying her out to Los Angeles to talk about making custom pieces for Love.
After sending Love a bill for the custom dress made earlier this year, Simorangkir says Love became angry about paying for the work and has since posted several messages online to "ruin and destroy" Simorangkir's reputation.
In one item, posted on Twitter, Love warned "is my clothes my WARDROBE! oi vey dont fuck with my wradrobe or you willend up in a circle of corched eaeth hunted til your dead".
On her MySpace blog, Love also said she was paying "crazy money" for clothes from Boudoir Queen, and allegedly left comments (since removed) on the Boudoir Queen feedback page in Etsy, calling Simorangkir "the nastiest lying worst person I have ever known" and a "vile horrible lying bitch".
Simorangkir is asking for unspecified damages, with the amount to be set at trial.
