RE: "MTV has a disgustingly predictable list of SXSW highlights."

Absolutely spot on Austinist.

Whoever wrote that Top 10 must have been shown a very good time by the labels. Especially No. 10 Explosions in the Sky. I love this band but did anyone see the show? The sound was majorly f'ed up. Only one guitar and the drums could be heard for the entire set - no bass, no guitars 2 and 3.

I felt terrible for those guys but the MTV reporter didn't seem to notice. Go figure...

Please, please, PLEASE continue spreading the news that El Paso is the next Williamsburg.

I'm willing to pitch in on a Town Crier to help with this.

I'm not saying any of it is good or bad, but thank you for making my point that it's all just old recycled crap. Some guy in Austin has been ripping off the Misfits stuff that the Misfits ripped off of old shit and I wasn't aware that Giant was ripping off that same old Misfits shit before that uninspired guy in Austin was ripping off the Misfits ripping off the TV show.

There's just too much ripping off. UT isn't producing any art of note that I'm aware of, but it's not like Harvard is producing any good artists either or the Art Institute of Dallas. Informative and inspirational artists are just as likely to come out of ACC as they are out of some copy an paste art institute.

Fairey has been doing that version of the Misfits logo for several years. Plus, it isn't like Glenn Danzig drew it himself - the Misfits got it from a 40's TV show:

http://www.thegiant.org/wiki/index.php/The_Misfits_Logo

LoudMouth can say what he wants, but it bothers me that people with the same level of artistic understanding are running UT and killed the Fairey mural that was planned up there. It isn't like UT (or Austin) has an overabundance of substantial art.

Yep, I typed the wrong name yesterday in a hurry. I corrected it this morning when Stan was so kind to point it out.

Here I am Central Texas, openly admitting to my typo. Let the rocks fly.

Nope, nope, no fair. Austinist's own style manual dictates that corrections are denoted with strikethroughs. She wrote SARAH Wennerstrom.

My schedule changes a lot, but my ideal time is 10 a.m. "

Even worse than mind-numbingly half-ass (sic) blog posts that get the singer's name wrong? ERIKA Wennerstrom might lack yr razor wit, but she's a million times cooler than you'll ever be. :)
