Street Closures for SXSW

Here's the quick points regarding street closures and general traffic info for SXSW Music week, mostly culled from a festival press release:

  • Capital Metro is extending Dillo and bus service times for event participants. Capital Metro’s Dillo service will run until 11 p.m. each night and its “Night Owl” routes will provide late-night travel between midnight and 3 a.m. Check http://www.capmetro.org for downtown routes.
  • Sixth Street remains open during peak morning hours (6 to 10 a.m.) Wednesday through Friday, March 18 - 20.
  • Brazos Street stays open continuously during the SXSW event.
  • Drivers will have only slightly reduced access on Fifth and Seventh streets due to a single lane of closure on those streets. These closed lanes can be used by businesses and bands to load and unload.
  • Any bagged meters in the downtown area can be used for loading and unloading, but unattended vehicles will be towed.
  • Streets closed March 18-22, from 6 a.m. to 3 a.m.: 500 - 600 blocks of San Jacinto Blvd, Trinity, Neches, Red River and Sabine Streets
  • Streets closed March 18-22, from 10 a.m. to 3 a.m.: 200 - 700 blocks of Sixth Street, the 500 - 900 blocks of Red River Street, and the 200 block of Nueces Street.
  • The westbound right-hand traffic lane of 600 through 800 blocks of W. Riverside Drive will be closed Thursday - Friday, March 19 - 20 from 6:00 p.m to 10:30 p.m. and Saturday, March 21 from Noon to 10:30 p.m.
  • If you're parking at the Austin Convention Center parking lot, you're allowed a total of three (3) re-entries per day for the $7 parking fee. Keep your receipts/dash card and show them to the booth operators when you're coming back in!
