- The F Yeah Fest, along with Transmission Entertainment, presents the third annual Mess With Texas on Saturday the 21st at Waterloo Park. This is the ultimate spot for Saturday -- the last day of day show mania -- a shindig where you can fill in the blanks in your list of must-see-acts this SXSW by meandering around the park all day. the list is endless -- catch ‘em all between 11:30 a.m. and 9 p.m. This could easily be called a one day Fun Fest!
- AMODA (The Austin Museum of Digital Art) brings us its 45th Digital Showcase on Friday the 13th at The Mohawk. Lots going on here -- musicians can compete in “The Laptop Battle” (to win a free trip to the 2009 Laptop Battle Championship at AMODA’s SXSWi Digital Showcase), Learning Secrets spins the beats inside, ZEALE (who opened for Ice Cube last December) and Phranchyze emcee, plus plenty of animation and art displays to stimulate our visual senses. Admission is free for SXSWi badge holders, $5 for AMODA members, and $9 for the rest.
- The Do512 Compound (2208 S. Lamar Blvd, 78704) hosts Do512 and Sweet Leaf Tea’s The Big One 2009 on Saturday the 21st. Enter our SXSW-Week Giveaway to win two spots on the VIP Guestlist! Or you can RSVP on Do512's website for free general admission. Regardless, get there early to catch New York’s Alberta Cross who turned in a magnificent performance at Club de Ville last month. The line-up also includes Mike Relm, Blue Scholars, Common Market, BM LINK, and Dead Confederate.
- Paste Magazine has announced the details for its day shows -- on the 18th and 19th at Radio Room. M. Ward, Amanda Palmer, Superdrag, Black Joe Lewis & The Honeybears, Loney Dear, and Heartless Bastards are just a few of the many artists scheduled to perform on the two stages on Wednesday. Paste teams up with Brooklyn Vegan for Thursday’s show -- the line-up includes Passion Pit, The Avett Brothers, The Wrens, Daniel Johnston, and Bishop Allen. (RSVP here for both shows.)
On Friday, Paste, Vanguard Records, Sugar Hill Records, and Russell Carter Artist Management present Keep Your Soul: A Tribute To Doug Sahm at The Belmont at noon, followed by live sets by Death On Two Wheels, The Bridges, Sarah Borges & The Broken Singles, and Indigo Girls. (RSVP.)
- The Tiniest Bar In Texas has a massive week of SXSW related events planned. Brought to you by a host of entities, the parties start on Thursday (the 19th) at 2 p.m. with Double Stereo’s brouhaha featuring White Ghost Shivers and The Georgian Company. Double Stereo also presents shows on Friday at 8 p.m. (in conjunction with XO Publicity) and Saturday at 3 p.m., the latter boasting a fine line-up consisting of Low Line Caller and STEREO IS A LIE, among others. - Spider House and the United States Art Authority have a plethora of mighty fine bands scheduled for its shows, starting in the afternoon and going well into the evening on the 19th and 20th. Catch the likes of Spindrift, Christian Bland & The Revelators, The Astronaut Suit, Wine and Revolution, The Tunnels, The Disraelis, Ripe, and Shapes Have Fangs on Friday, and The Carrots, Crystal Stilts, The Golden Boys, The Pets, and The Upside Down on Saturday. Still going strong on Sunday? Head down to Spider House at 8 p.m. for Nerdcore Nerdfest.
