  • KGSR will continue their tradition of live morning broadcasts from the Four Seasons hotel during SX Music week. Confirmed guests include Peter, Bjorn, and John, M. Ward, Sam Roberts, and The Gourds. There's a $5 cover to attend, but it goes to charity, and there's some light breakfast included!
  • The always insightful and entertaining Austin music blog Covert Curiosity has announced their Thursday 3/19 SX dayshow at Aces Lounge. The show features free tallboys, but there's some music as well. Health, Hacienda, The Strange Boys, Shapes Have Fangs, Garotas Suecas, Ume, and Golden Triangle are all scheduled to perform. Click here to RSVP.
  • The official DirecTV/SXSW Live roster was also unveiled today. These events are open to the public, but tickets are required for admission (they hand them out at and around the Convention Center during SX week). Featured artists Echo and The Bunnymen, Ben Harper, Ed Harcourt, The Proclaimers, and your favorites - wait for it - The Oak Ridge Boys - will all perform on the broadcasts. We saw The Ting Tings here last year during the festival, and the lighting and sound is simply ace (even though it's in an airplane hangar-type space), so don't be afraid of stopping in.
  • In a sort-of music, sort-of film note, Warp X Studios have announced the World Premiere of the All Tomorrow's Parties film at SXSW this year. Screenings will take place on 3/14 at Alamo South Lamar, 3/19 at The Paramount, and 3/21 at the Alamo Ritz. Performers features on the film include Battles, Sonic Youth, Belle And Sebastian, Patti Smith, Grinderman, Iggy and the Stooges, Portishead, Mogwai, and Slint. A mix of pro and amateur video, the film uses everything from Super8 to cameraphone footage to give viewers a better idea behind the goings on at ATP events. A DVD release is scheduled for later this year.
  • While it is easy to tease the Kiwis for only exporting Flight Of The Conchords and members of the Finn family, New Zealand is out to win us over with an official happy hour day party at Brush Square Park on 3/20. The gig will host Cut Off Your Hands, Midnight Youth, Ladyhawke, and Bang! Bang! Eche! Almost as important is the fact that Kim Crawford wine will be served, which should be an effictive counterpunch to those seven free PBRs you had earlier in the day. Click here to RSVP.
