Austinist Indieroke This Drunkerday, er, Saturday!

Austinist Indieroke
Saturday, March 7
The Mohawk (912 Red River)
Free, 9pm-2am
[info]
Somebody, at some point, noted that talking about music is like dancing about architecture, and writing about karaoke is just as preposterous. When it's good, karaoke is sublime, awe-inducing, indescribable. And Austinist Indieroke, wherein you're invited to sing songs you're not embarrassed to have on your playlist--we're thinking some Zep, some Death Cab, maybe Smiths?--is always good.

So you'll just have to look past the fact that the sentence "This drunk blond girl cried during 'Come Pick Me Up'" doesn't really describe the true trainwreckage of that kind of scene. You can tell your friends all about how the lighting was just right, how you had had the perfect amount of beers in you to really nail "Exit Music (For A Film)", or you can just get you and your friends' arses down to the Mohawk on Saturday night and effing do it to it.

Bonus! Local minimalist sleepy-folkers The Eastern Sea will be opening the show at 9 p.m. to give you a chance to warm up your liver and your voice, and the Indieroke starts at 9:45 p.m. Free t-shirts will be awarded to the Best Male, Female, Duet and Group performers.
