The audience can expect a diverse array of sounds this evening -- Americana flavor from Guy Forsyth and Randy Weeks, the jazz stylings of Jeff Lofton and Kat Edmonson, along with Drew Smith’s pop melodies and Dan Dyer’s soulful crooning will all be on offer. The CD also contains a few of our favorites (not scheduled to perform this evening) such as White Denim, Okkervil River, Brownout!, and Brothers and Sisters.
Follow the jump to learn more about this project via Rose Reyes, Director of Music Marketing at the ACVB.
What are the responsibilities of The Austin Music Office at the ACVB?
Rose Reyes: Our main purpose is to promote the Austin music scene far and wide. We promote Austin music by working with music media worldwide, working with booked conventions and tourists in helping them navigate the live music scene.
What is the goal of this Austin Music CD series?
Every year for the past 8 years we have put together a compilation that has great music and shows the diversity and high quality of what Austin has to offer musically right now. In 8 years we have never used a band/artist twice, and we always try to cover as much ground genre wise. This year we have included a nice little mini guide to live music in Austin with maps of the entertainment districts and calendar listings. We distribute the CD’s at travel and music industry tradeshows around the globe, as well as to film makers/music supervisors.
Thank you for speaking with Austinist.
