On Sunday March 1st, local non-profit writing and tutoring center Austin Bat Cave will host a songwriting workshop featuring the homegrown talents of Will Sheff and Okkervil River. Sheff and the band released the well-received The Stand Ins this last year, and plan to play Coachella in mid-April.

The workshop takes place on Sunday, March 1st from 2 to 4 pm, is free, and still has openings for high school-aged participants from 9th to 11th grade. The Austin Bat Cave hopes this will be the first in a series of songwriting workshops, and is actively seeking bands and songwriters eager in sharing their chops with Austin's rock stars in the making. Those interested in attending this workshop should email the Austin Bat Cave here, or give them a call at 512-524-1489. Spots in the workshop are limited.

Austin Bat Cave is founded on the model of Dave Eggers' San Francisco-based kids writing non-profit 826 Valencia. ABC serves hundreds of local students in schools, in their after-school tutoring center, and in their innovative workshops featuring collaborations with great local artists and arts organizations like Austin Film Festival, Blanton Museum of Art, Texas Monthly, and others.
