The album is a veritable who's who of indie rock, featuring songs by Arcade Fire, Sufjan Stevens, Kronos Quartet, Cat Power, Andrew Bird, Spoon and the National among many others. There's also a handful of special collaborative treats: Feist sits in with Grizzly Bear, Jose Gonzalez loans his voice to the Books, and David Byrne teams up with the Dirty Projectors for a song. Two discs and thirty-one songs hardly seems like enough with this kind of talent.
To celebrate and help to raise local awareness, Austinist has teamed up with 4AD, Insound and AIDS Services of Austin's Viva Las Vegas to host a listening party and happy hour on the album's release date, February 17th. Join us at the Mohawk indoors beginning at 5 p.m. tonight, and listen to the album in its entirety while enjoying free and dirt-cheap beers after a hard day's work. Donations will be taken for AIDS services of Austin, and we'll be giving out prizes throughout the event.
Fill out the form for a chance to win your copy of the album, we'll see you tonight to distribute!
This contest is closed. Thanks to everyone who came out to support!
