  • Schedules have been released for the 2009 SXSW Interactive panel discussions. Start making the tough decisions now.

  • Gary Hustwit, director of the hit documentary "Helvetica", is set to debut his new film, "Objectified", at the SXSW Film Festival. Meanwhile, Hustwit and some of the designers featured in his new movie will take part in the SXSW Interactive panel: "We Have Been Objectified: Identity, Consumerism, and the Future of Designed Objects." Scheduled for March 15, this session will also feature Tim Brown (IDEO), Davin Stowell (smartdesignworldwide.com) and Rob Walker (New York Times Magazine).
  • The 2009 SXSW Web Awards finalists were announced on Tuesday, in categories ranging from Amusement to Blog to Music to Technical Achievement. Winners will be announced at the SXSW Web Awards ceremony on March 15 at the Hilton Austin Downtown.
  • On Saturday, SXSW filled the final keynote slot and it was a good one: Nate Silver, the brains behind political site fivethirtyeight.com, whose analysis and predictions of the 2008 presidential election were right on target. Silver, who also is the co-author of Baseball Prospectus, will be interviewed by BusinessWeek reporter Stephen Baker for the Sunday, March 15 keynote.
  • Finally, today is the last day to register for SXSW at a discounted rate. Walk-up rates, which begin at $495 for Interactive, kick in at midnight.
