Iphigenia Crash Lands at SVT [Preview, Giveaway]

Iphigenia Crash Land Falls...
Through 3/7, Th-Sa at 8pm
Salvage Vanguard Theater (2803 Manor Road)
[info] | [tickets]
We loved the last Caridad Svich work Salvage Vanguard Theater produced (Thrush: A Play with Songs), and we expect their current production of Svitch's Iphigenia Crash Land Falls on the Neon Shell That Was Once Her Heart (a rave fable), though somewhat obnoxiously lengthy in title, will also be an outstanding night of theatre.

Iphigenia is a twisted tale, so we'll let the press release do the talking: "...Greek tragedy spun into a sleek netherworld of sex, drugs, and trance music. Iphigenia is the daughter of a political celebrity. She embraces sensuous excess with a transgendered glam rock star named Achilles in a desperate attempt to flee her seemingly inevitable fate."

We'll admit, we've got a bias here—this show features our three biggest crushes: Adriene Mishler as Iphigenia, Jude Hickey as Achilles, music by Graham Reynolds. Sigh and triple sigh. What a dreamboat cast, rounded out beautifully by Harvey Guion, Monika Bustamante, Mical Trejo, and Dustin Wills. Best of all, we've got a pair of tickets for tomorrow night's performance. What's better on a Valentine's Eve than sinking your teeth into a great Greek tragedy?
